The Revolution will now come to order
Last night we had the first official meeting of the Peg team -- 'twas good in lots of ways, most notably waking me up to the realities of how the sequence of events that need to occur in the next few months.
We met at the most central of our 102 bureau offices. After the meet n' greet between Lawyerpal and Broadcastconsultant (the other members of my team), we started about the business of making assignments and crafting strategies. I had a nice little strawman built in Mindmanager -- a strawman that quickly fell apart.
[Section redacted: Things we shouldn't be talking about in public. Sorry]
To be honest, it's not about refining a plan, but taking the "manifesto" I've created and turning it into a real plan. I've got no doubt that with our collective rolodexes (rolodexi?) we can make this happen-- if we don't squander our meetings with a half-baked plan.
At first, there was a bit of a letdown at the idea of a dual world with a day job and a startup for longer than I'd hoped, but it really makes sense. (Mrs. Peg is willing to sacrifice to make this happen, but understandably isn't willing to go homeless and debt-ridden-- understandable, given the first wild goose chase on which I led her.) Quitting the day gig would be premature-- I've created the DNA of a plan; gotten significant third-party validation; and have a team of significant folks that's willing to invest significant sweat in making this happen. That's great news. We need to add a couple more folks over the next couple weeks (a researcher and a designer, primarily).
But the clock is ticking...
So, does this mean you're "hiring?"

Yes, if you're willing to accept "pay" instead of pay.
