We got over 400 comment spams while I was gone. Since we moderate, they never see the light of day on our site, but it's (almost) enough to make me close comments altogether.

You should turn on a SPAM filter for your comments. It is fairly easy to do, or just have your provider do it for you. It will change your life!

I'm on Typepad (for now), and I don't think they have that option.
I'll bet other, better, providers do though.
